Dr. Rai was on an Operation Rainbow mission to Baru Sahib, in the Himalayas, in India this past May. The team treated 120 patients with cleft lip and palate deformities with successful outcomes. Patients that had post burn contractures were also treated. Dr. Rai was recently interviewed by Global Television on the 6:00 pm news regarding Operation Rainbow.
On September 10, 2009 Dr. Rai attended a meeting of the Canadian Society for Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Plastic Surgeons at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver.
Facelift and breastlift procedures were discussed and Dr. Rai presented a paper on breastlift surgery and breast augmentation.
Dr. Rai also attended a seminar on the injectable Sculptra, an injectable that he has found gives excellent results. It seems to be a longer lasting filler and works very well for facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Rai attended the American Association of Plastic Surgery meeting in Boston, MA from April 2-6, 2008. An excellent learning program was offered at this meeting, including courses on facial rejuvenation, liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation and breast lift procedures. Newer techniques and updates were discussed and new ideas were noted, such as liposculpting procedures being considered for the face and body, as well as for the breast.
Where the face is concerned, all eyelid procedures and facelift procedures were reviewed with the newer techniques presented and discussed. Body contouring surgeries, such as liposuction, were also discussed, as well as newer techniques for breast surgery.
Overall, the meeting offered an excellent program with great learning opportunities.
In June 2009, Dr. Rai presented a paper entitled the “Awake Facelift” at the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons’ annual meeting in Kelowna, B.C.
In September 2009, Dr. Rai presented a paper on breast augmentation surgery at the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons’ meeting in Vancouver.
In March 2007, Dr. Rai travelled with a team to Ludhiana, India to operate on children with cleft lip and palate deformities. The Operation Rainbow team successfully operated on 120 patients.
In December 2008, Dr. Rai travelled with a team to Cambodia to operate on 176 patients over a two week period.
The next mission will be to Medan in Indonesia on November 17, 2009, where we hope to treat 100 children with cleft lip and palate deformities.
